One of the main reasons for doing this site is to hopefully introduce people to interesting music, whether it be brand spanking new or thirty years old. I’ve personally found (and then bought) loads of music via blogs, and nothing would make me happier than introducing someone to Durutti Column, or Geneva, or American Music Club, or whoever. MP3’s are a great way for people to get a taster of a particular artist, so they then go out and buy more of the artist’s music, or watch them live (if they still can).
However if you are the owner of one of the MP3’s I’ve posted and you would rather I didn’t post it, please let me know via email (it’s loftandlost and it’s a googlemail.com account) and I will remove it. After all, it is yours.
I’ve also added, from March 2009 and wherever possible, links to buy the tracks or albums I talk about, whether they are new releases, best of’s, or single tracks (as MP3 downloads). For some of these, especially in the Pitchfork 500, this may not be possible. Also please note these are all for the UK Amazon.com site; I will change this to Amazon US if enough people tell me to!

/ June 29, 2009Meow!
Please take a look at the promo video for my forthcoming digital release.
The song is called £10 Bag and it’s about 80s computer games, childhood and
heroin.
Keeping it light and cheery for the summer!
Two versions of the song (one featuring grime star WRETCH 32) will be
hitting itunes on the 6th July. I can send these mp3s to you if you
like…
Thanks!

Surrey
/ November 16, 2010Hi there!
I stumbled upon your blog while researching possible matches for music blogs and the kind of music I write. I saw you listed some David Bowie music and appreciate Arcade Fire. I’d like to share Sir Surrey’s work with you at: http://www.sirsurrey.com. It is a unique approach to composition, different instrumentation and a different distribution model for being an Indie Artist. Hope you enjoy it. I would love to hear what you thought of the music. I am happy to send you a copy of the CD.
Cheers and look forward!

/ September 1, 2013Hi, I’m andy from Cultural Other, a musical project that got me involved now for about one year and a half. The whole aim of this project is to create a musical and cultural conversation between different backgrounds, inspirations and traditions. Our trio is composed of me (Andrea) from Milan, Kuba (drummer) who is Polish-American and James, british bassist with Argentinian roots.
Our musicality spaces from 90’s-influenced rock music, to jazz and latin, through more modern drum beats: our interest is to create a vibe more than just proposing our songs.
We just released a self-produced and promoted track a couple of days ago, and I thought of sharing it with you since I got loads of inspiration from your work.
Here is the link to the track!
Andrea.

/ September 11, 2013Hi K,
We are Showroom Dummies, a new power trio from London, UK.
We have been writing, recording and gigging for a few months now and everyone seems to love our music. We think it is now time to be heard by a bigger audience, build up a genuine fan base and we would really appreciate if you could help us and support us.
We are working on our EP and we will be uploading new tracks within the next couple of weeks, for now we only have 2 tracks ready (all recorded in my bedroom): https://soundcloud.com/showroomdummies
Please, let us know what do you think, every feedback is important for us to get better and better.
Thanks in advance for your time.
