Definitely! There's so many bands influenced by Television that it's almost easier to talk about who wasn't influenced by them...

Just listened to "Guiding Light" by Television... reminded me immediately of the Violent Femmes. Don't you think there may have been an influence there too? Seriously, even the voice sounds so familiar.

I was looking at release dates - "Unknown Pleasures" having come out in 1979 and "Crazy Rhythms" in 1980 - but you could well be right in that The Feelies would have been playing this for a couple of years before releasing their record, so I stand corrected!

I guess it's also that they both have similar influences, such as Velvet Underground/Lou Reed and early Bowie.

"There’s a definite Joy Division meets Television thang going on (that drumbeat is taken straight from 'Interzone')..."?

There is definitely a Television influence on the Feelies, but the Joy Division one is all in your mind. The Feelies were playing "The Boy with the Perpetual Nervousness" at least two years before "Interzone" ever came out on record.
